You need online approval to be a candidate for the Global Entry Application Form after which you have 365 days to complete an appointment with their closest enrollment center. Please keep in mind that enrollment centers’ availability for interviews varies by region.
Some are available right away, whilst others could be months away. To sum it up, if you plan a trip earlier, make sure you have enough time to visit an alternative center with openings for your interview.
What does this application form process consist of?
The following steps are necessary for the Global Entry application process:
- You must fill out and submit an online application through TTP, along with a $100 non-refundable application fee (this is a nonrefundable fee).
- A CBP officer will review all your records. He/She will also perform a background search.
- You will receive information about whether your application will proceed to the next stage.
- You must arrange an appointment with CBP officers at an Enrollment Center if your application is conditionally accepted. Processing times differ by the applicant, but conditional approval will take up to 6 months on average.
Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19), NEXUS, Global Entry, SENTRI, and Quick applications will remain active (not expire) for 24 months after obtaining conditionally approved notice.
If you are eligible for Global Entry, your membership will be valid for five years. It will remain valid until you are convicted of a crime or found inadmissible to the United States under immigration law.

Global Entry opportunities are available to Canadian nationals and residents who are part of the NEXUS scheme. To enroll in the program if you are under the age of 18, you must have your parent or legal guardian’s permission.
What are the reasons for ineligibility?
If you meet the following criteria, you could be ineligible for the Global Entry program:
- You provide misleading or inaccurate information on the application
- Have been convicted of any criminal offense, or have pending criminal charges or warrants (including driving while intoxicated)
- If in any nation, you have been found in violation of any customs, immigration, or agriculture regulations or laws
- You are the focus of an ongoing federal, state, or local law enforcement investigation;
- Applicants with authorized waivers of inadmissibility or parole documents are inadmissible to the United States under immigration law
- CBP is unable to verify your low-risk status.
Are all visa classifications in the United States required for Global Entry?
You can participate in Global Entry if your country has a bilateral trusted traveler agreement with CBP, as long as you are not entering the United States under one of the following visa categories:
- C-1 – Aliens in Transit
- C-2 – Aliens en route to the UN
- C-3 – Transiting Foreign Government Representative
- H-1C – Certified Nurse Practitioner.
- H-2A Agricultural Worker
- H-2B Agricultural Worker

What do you do if you get an “X” or an “O” on your receipt from the Global Entry kiosk?
If the kiosk receipt has an “X” on it, you must report to the nearest manned CBP passport control booth to speak with a CBP officer. At first, you are not required to re-enter the queue, the CBP officer at the passport checkpoint will examine your papers and decide the explanation for the “X”.
After this, the CBP officer releases you. There is also a possibility that he/she sends you to “secondary” for further screening.
The “X” may indicate a variety of items, like random inspection, a mismatch in fingerprints, or other problems. Suppose, you don’t clear the “X” before going to the exit control point.
As a result, you’ll be sent back to passport control for screening. The receipt from the kiosk informs the CBP officer that you used the kiosk successfully.
But if you have proclaimed anything if the kiosk receipt has an “O” written on it, you must speak with an official about your declaration.
