Being unemployed is a devastating situation where you might think that there is no way that you cannot afford your basic needs without a job. However, each state of the US has its own unemployment benefits program to help those in need of a new job, and Colorado residents are no different.
Fortunately, the state of Colorado has implemented an online service that lets you claim your unemployment benefits. But if you want to do it, you must first have a MyUI+ account and login into the website to make any claim.
That is why we are going to present the process of login in for the Colorado Unemployment service, and also provide information about it and which type of claimant you are.
Colorado Unemployment Benefits eligibility
Getting these benefits is not something that you will get so easily, you must first accomplish some requirements. According to the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE), if you want to qualify for unemployment you must:
- Be unemployed through no fault of your own, for example, the reason why you lost your job cannot be because of your negligence or misbehavior.
- You also have to keep looking for a new job constantly and are ready to work again.
- Finally, you need to earn at least $2,500 during your base period. In other words, this time period refers to the first four of the five completed calendar quarters (before your first claim).
If you do not succeed in collecting this amount of money and fulfill the other requirements, your chances to obtain unemployment benefits in Colorado will be zero.
MyUI+ application
Filing a claim for unemployment in Colorado has never been easy until now. Using the new MyUI+ you can create an account and manage and request your benefits every week. This version of unemployment insurance provides a lot more than the old MyUI, but it has one drawback.
If you were a client of this service during the old version, you will need to create a new password, but can maintain their email to log in. If you need more help or are presenting any problem, you can always contact the CDLE call center at 303-536-5615 from Monday to Friday and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Types of claimants and MyUI+ login process
Right now, there are three ways that you can access your MyUI+ account, and it depends on whether you are an active user or not. If you need more help to understand, there are video tutorials on the CDLE website.
To start the process, click on the big blue button that says ‘log into MyUI+’, then follow the prompts depending on the user you are.

For existing and regular claimants
You fall in this category if you have submitted an unemployment insurance claim in Colorado and you have not done another one since the pandemic.
Since you have already made a claim, you are registered in their records, so you just have to change your password.
- Enter your social security number and click on ‘forgot password’.
- Provide personal data, this includes your social security number again and your date of birth.
- The last thing that you have to provide is the temporary security code. You are going to receive this code through the email that you registered when you last applied for unemployment benefits.
- This code is a 6-digit number, and you will receive it in an email with the title ‘Password Reset Request’.
- Once you fill these requirements, you can now type the new password.
This finishes the process, all you have to do now is to return to the website and enter your social security number, the new password and you are good to go.
For PUA claimants
This case is for people who have submitted an unemployment claim in Colorado since the pandemic started. In other words, this is for Pandemic Unemployment Assistance Claimants.
In this case, you do not have to change your password; just enter your social security number and the password and log in. If you have any trouble login in, you can follow the previous process to reset your MyUI+ password.
